Passages looks at places built for movement and the brief moments when movement is interrupted. Streets, rail lines, windows and rooms become frames; thresholds and direction matter more than landmarks.

These photographs were made across Japan, but the edit is not organized as a record of destinations. It follows situations built around movement: a person under an umbrella, a train waiting, a room held in silence, a view through a window, a path under trees.
Each frame contains some kind of threshold. The sequence asks less where the photograph was made than what becomes visible when movement pauses long enough to be noticed.
